Ryland	Leonard Joseph	1969	BEM for gallantry	DS	Involved in the arrest of an armed suspect. He forced the gun away for a first shot. His hand became jammed in the gun’s mechanism which prevented a second shot.
Scott	Lawrence	1967	George Medal	DS	Threatened with a rifle when he attempted to arrest a prison escapee in a house at Highbury. The suspect tried to fire the gun at him but the bullet transpired to be of the wrong calibre, and did not work.
Stamper	Roy	1964	BEM for gallantry	PC	With PC Roy Hobbs. Chased an armed man on foot from a night club and with assistance from the public arrested him despite being shot at.
Stevens	Henry William	1958	George Cross	PC	Gave chase to an armed man who ran away through the garden after a breaking. As PC Stevens gained on him and shouted that he was a police officer, the man shot him in the face. Nevertheless PC Stevens caught him and disarmed him, before prisoner escaped

Von	Charles Browne	1967	BEM for gallantry	TDC	With TDC Victor Lock. After a chased of an armed robber on foot, confronted the suspect who threatened and pulled the trigger of a gun which did not fire as it was set at the only empty chamber.
Wall	Anthony Gauis	1956	BEM for gallantry	PC	Effecting the arrest of two juveniles, one of whom used a firearm to resist arrest, whereby he sustained injury.
Watt	Thomas Forbes	1963	BEM for gallantry	PC	Whilst off duty intervened in a fight outside a club, sustained slash injuries requiring 60 stitches to his face, and chased his assailant for quarter of a mile before arresting him. Transferred to Glasgow?
Wharton	John Stuart Northmore	1969	George Medal	DS	With TDC Philip Williams. The officers intercepted an armed gang in the course of a bank raid in Streatham. DS Wharton pursued on foot a robber with a shorgun and eventually overpowered him.
Wheeler	Brian Edwin	1967	BEM for gallantry	PC	With PC William Arthur Nield. Overpowered powerful and violent man who seriously injured both officers with a barber’s razor.
Wheelhouse	Michael James	1966	George Medal	PC	With DS Peter Woodmore. Involved in a prolonged chase between Kingston and Chelsea of the driver of a stolen car in which two police officers, including PC Wheelhouse were shot and wounded, and a police dog killed. DS Woodmore arrested the prisoner.
Whitham	Douglas	1966	George Medal	PC	With other officers, dealt with an escaped prisoner in a roof top incident under gun fire. The prisoner was eventually arrested after the officers used a broom handle and other means to prevent him escaping in a car.
Williams	Phillip John Dixon	1969	George Medal	TDC	ith DS John Wharton The officers intercepted an armed gang in the course of a bank raid in Streatham. PC Williams made several attempts with his motorcycle to run down an armed robber who repeatedly threatened him and fired a gun.

Woodmore	Peter Alan	1966	George Medal	DS	With PC Michael Wheelhouse. Involved in a prolonged chase between Kingston and Chelsea of the driver of a stolen car in which two police officers, including PC Wheelhouse were shot and wounded, and a police dog killed. DS Woodmore arrested the prisoner.
